It’s transformative, deeply meaningful, and (in my opinion) the best job in the world.
And yet… so many incredible doulas and midwives struggle to make their business work.
They burn out, they give up, or they keep it as a “side passion” because they can’t seem to make it financially sustainable.
And here’s the thing, it’s not because they’re not talented, passionate, or gifted at doing this ancient sacred women's work.
The #1 reason birth workers fail at business is not having a business mindset (or skills).
Â
Yes, business skills matter, but really the one thing that will make you fail at business is your mindset.
Most birth workers aren’t failing because they don’t know enough about their craft or aren't amazing at what they do.
They’re failing because their own inner world is stopping them from showing up fully in the world.
I used to be...

My name is Anna, a former midwife and now mentor and educator teaching women like you to become Sacred Birth Workers and helping Birth Workers build Successful birth Businesses that last.
I know the fire in your belly for this work and your souls calling.
The passion to serve at the birth altar is shooting out of your ears, you are SO ready!Â
I know this excitement.
I've had it (still do) and I've also lost it (burn out) to then found it again (by creating a sustainable birth business model that supports me).
And I want to give you some advice one birth worker to another.

When you signed up for your doula training, you probably envisioned yourself:
Supporting amazing families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum

...It began in Stockholm during my teenage years sitting in women's circles and learning healing arts and the ways of women, to then go on at 18 to study herblore, nature medicine and healing modalities and later in my twenties human rights & social sciences to only pivot back to the healing arts through massage and spa school, life coaching, yoga teacher training and then diving head first into starting my own business knowing absolutely nothing about how to run a business.
I opened my very own organic day spa where I offered treatments, spa and sauna and yoga.
I was young, naive, and passionate about creating a sanctuary where people could come to relax, heal and feel held.
But I learned quickly that running a business required more than just being skilled in my craft.
It required business sk...

The maternity system doesn’t "hold space" for us to trust ourselves through pregnancy, birth and the postpartum.
It does the absolute opposite and put's itself as the expert over you and your baby.
Our culture doesn’t teach us to trust birth.Â
Quite the opposite. It tells us its the most dangerous thing a woman can do.
And so, even when we want a natural birth, we’re often walking in blind without much knowledge and no support from the system or culture around us.
It's not an easy task!
Just wanting to have a natural birth as natures design intended these days is not enough.
You need to rewire your subconscious mind in believing it is possible for you after a life time of your culture and m...
It’s that quiet liminal space—between ovulation and a missed period—where hope dances with uncertainty.
Where every twinge feels like a sign, and every symptom sends us deep into Google searches at midnight.
If you’re here, you might be in that tender portal—wondering, waiting, noticing.
Maybe you just feel different and can't explain why.
Maybe your breasts feel a little heavier, your dreams a little more vivid, or your emotions more raw and heightened.
So, let’s talk about those early pregnancy signs.
Not just the physical ones (though we’ll go there), but also the emotional, mental, and spiritual signs—the ones you won’t find on most symptom checklists, but that matter just as much.
Â
These are the classic ones you may already know
Breast tenderness or swelling
Mild cramping or bloating (like PMS, but subtly different)
Fatigue – like bon
...Those quiet days in the luteal phase where you’re listening to your body with such deep attention, searching for signs, whispering what-ifs, and feeling everything more intensely than usual.
And then… you notice a spot of blood.
Your heart sinks. Is this my period coming early?
Or… could this be something else?
Â
Implantation bleeding is a small amount of spotting or light bleeding that can happen when a fertilized egg implants itself into the uterine lining.
This usually occurs about 6–12 days after ovulation, which for many women is right around cycle day 20–26, or week 4–5 of pregnancy (though they might not know they’re pregnant yet).
It can look like:
A pinkish, light brown or rust-colored spot
A single wipe or small streak
Light bleeding that lasts a few hours or
...While mainstream pregnancy guides focus on size comparisons and medical milestones, this blog post is about inviting you into something deeper and more meaningful.
About listening to your body's whispers, honoring your emotions, and deepening your connection with your baby, your body and soul, and your feminine wisdom.
Whether this is your first pregnancy or your fourth, these reflections are here to support you as you walk the spiral path from maiden to mother (or mother again to a new life).
Each week offers an invitation to reflect, realign, and root into the sacred unfolding of life within.

In Sweden, we call it Midsommar, a time rich with tradition, wildflowers, fertility rites, dancing, and celebrations.
This is the longest day and shortest night, a cosmic crescendo—the sun at its peak, the earth in full bloom, and the invitation for us, too, to stand fully in our own light and shine as nature!
In the sacred spiral of the seasons, summer is the season of the Mother & Birth.
Of creation & full expression.
Â
Just as the Earth Swells with Abundance, so too does the Womb of the Mother ready to Birth!
Summer is the season of birth—literal and metaphorical.
It’s the time when ideas conceived in the season of winter and planted in spring come into fruition.
For the woman walking the path of pregnancy this solstice offers a mirror.
You are the embodiment of the season—full to the brim, powerfully shining and glowing with the creative force of life i...
Physiological birth is almost extinct within the western medicalized birth culture (whether you're birthing in a wester country or not) and often minimized in mainstream culture, treated as something idealistic but not for the modern woman.
But in truth, it is the original design, rooted in biology, cellular wisdom, and ancestral memory.
Â
To birth physiologically means to birth in alignment with the body’s natural hormonal orchestration, instincts, rhythms, and undisturbed intelligence.Â
And the benefits?
They reach far beyond the birth room.
Let’s go deeper into all the ways that physiological birth deeply nourishes the baby, the mother, and our collective human story.

Through birth, we don’t just meet our babies—we meet ourselves.
Over the past year, The Natural Birth Podcast has been graced by the voices of incredible birthing mamas, each sharing their raw, powerful experiences.
Their stories remind us that birth is so much more than a medical event.
It’s a sacred initiation, a rite of passage, a moment that changes a woman forever.
For this year's Mother’s Day, I’ve gathered some of the most profound wisdom shared by these women.
Whether you’re preparing for birth, supporting someone you love, or simply honoring the sacredness of this journey, may these words serve as inspiration, encouragement, and a reminder of the power that lives within every birthing woman.
