What Would You Say to Someone Considering Birth Work?

Apr 04, 2025

I get asked this a lot.

So to answer this question I took the help of a Doula, a Midwife, a Doctor, and a Sacred Birth Worker to explore their journeys into birth work and ultimately their advice to anyone considering this Sacred Line of Women’s Business.

Let’s explore their Stories, Insights and what They would Say to anyone Considering Birth Work!

Birth Work Finds You

One of the most beautiful truths that emerged from our conversation is that birth work often finds you when you’re ready—sometimes when you least expect it.

For some, it begins with an intense fascination with birth stories.

For others, it’s a spiritual teacher that arrives through life experiences, offering lessons in trust, sovereignty, and connection to the feminine.

Take Marie, for example. She didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming a birth worker.

In fact, her early understanding of birth was shaped by fear and the belief that birth was inherently dangerous.

Then one day, she stumbled upon a natur...

From Doula to a Sacred Birth Worker - Jez's Story

Jez took a mainstream DONA Doula Course and didn't find that it gave her enough knowledge, support or confidence to be the space holder for something so big such as the birth portal. So she decided to come to The Sacred Birth Worker Mentorship to deepen her craft.

Here is her story.

The Doula who wanted more...

What I Love About Being a Sacred Birth Worker

I love being a sister in this work.

I love dreaming with women, romanticizing what they want for themselves, and watching them step into their own power.

I love witnessing the moment when a woman doesn’t just give birth—she births herself.

I love mothering mothers—wrapping them in warmth, in wisdom, in reminders that they, too, are held.

I love sharing evidence-based truths that would have changed everything for my own rite of passage into motherhood.

I love that I don’t clock in, and I don’t check out. This isn’t a job—it’s a way of being. A remembering. A kno...

What I love about being a Sacred Birth Worker

I love being a sacred birth Worker.

I love it even more than I thought I would when I started the mentorship.

I love the depth in sacred birth work.

I love having lots of practical knowledge and resources as well as bringing the embodiment piece into working with women - which I feel is something that is lacking with many care providers.

I love being able to unwind big topics with women and offer them new perspectives on birth and pregnancy.

I love being able to turn questions around to them and assist them in accessing their own inner wisdom instead of needing to convince them...

What I Love About Being a Sacred Birth Worker

Mar 28, 2025

There are a million reasons I LOVE this Sacred & Ancient profession.

And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

In this blog post I will share with you why I love it and also give you glimpse into the magic of birth through the birth photos of 4 of my beautiful clients births that I had the privilege and honor of attending, witnessing and holding space for.

Witnessing Miracles Every Day

Few people can say they witness miracles for a living.

As a birth worker, I get to stand in the presence of life itself unfolding, watching a mother step into her power, a baby take their first breath, and a family be forever changed.

No two births are the same, yet every single one carries this inexplicable magic—a moment so profound it imprints itself on everyone present.

To be invited into this moment is nothing short of a gift, one that I will never take for granted.

Fearing Following Your Purpose into Birth Work?

Mar 21, 2025

Birth Work is a Soul Calling, a Deep Inner Knowing, a Yearning. But even when the call is undeniable, doubts, fears and ultimately objections often arise.

WE are often the ones keeping ourselves from our destiny, our purpose, heck even our own happiness.

Why do we do it?

Whether it’s the fear of financial instability, uncertainty about what training to choose, or concerns about balancing birth work with personal life, many who feel drawn to this path hesitate to take the leap of faith.

Maybe it’s too scary to leave a comfortable, safe job and pursue your true calling… for most it is. Most people don’t follow their purpose but sit on the sidelines watching others do it.

And I am not saying these concerns aren’t valid.

They Totally are. And they deserve to be explored.

Because beneath them lies the truth.

So let’s face some of the most common fears and objections to daring to follow one's calling into birth work.
